Good morning, funny names fans! Amb here, ready to be your voice of logic and reason on this logical and reasonable Wednesday morning. If you were here with us yesterday, you may have noticed that the hamsters went just a tad bit off their wheels in the Comments section. A certain pocket-sized blogger may have gotten just a tad bit carried away planning the lives of her Imaginary Future Funny Named Offspring with a certain BoFN co-founder.
Hey, it happens.
But our work is important to us, and we strive to ground each of our posts in a sense of reality and verisimilitude. (Thus ensuring our readers take us seriously when we use words like verisimilitude). So today, I’m logically and reasonably getting us back on track with a post about a presumed dead CIA operative who works with a mysterious billionaire to prevent crimes before they happen by analyzing information generated by the omnipresent surveillance feed of a top secret super computer.
Hey, talk to Dave. He makes the schedule around here, and I’ve had these names saved in my drafts folder since Season 3 premiered last month.
Today I’d like to introduce you to the hit CBS television show “Person Of Interest”. As you may have gathered from the above synopsis, “Person of Interest” is a crime procedural … that’s not quite like your average network crime procedural. It focuses on preventing crimes rather than solving them, and it does so by engaging a sense of existential unease and post-modern paranoia in its viewers. It was conceived of and created by Jonathan Jensen Jonah Nolan, who co-wrote a couple of small films you may have heard of called “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises”.
All of which is very impressive, sure, but let’s face it; my attention is captured by actors’ cheekbones and the names they use to sign their checks. Here then, is a look at some of the players in this lighthearted little drama:
- Jim Caviezel: (Former CIA agent with a shady past) John Reese
- Taraji P. Henson: (Disgraced police officer) Joss Carter
- Amy Acker: (Psychotic computer hacker) Root
- Paige Turco: (Possibly corrupt political fixer and all around sex kitten) Zoe Morgan
- Graubaer’s Boker: (Guard dog and amb’s favourite name on this whole list) Bear
See?! Just your typical light and easy breezy Tuesday night viewing.
I’m so glad that I could provide a much-needed dose of reality along with today’s funny name fix for you all. Have an entirely reasonable day everyone!
